Nothing Is Impossible: My Story
September 30, 2013
Not so long ago I found some series about Steven Frayne or how people call him - Dynamo - an English magician. At first I was quite sceptical, since I've seen many of these magician shows and they were nothing special. But this time I saw something different. I was surprised to see so many celebrities hanging out with him and really enjoyed his magic - Will Smith, Prince Charles, Richard Branson, Rihanna, Tinie Tempah - all of them were just crazy about him. So I got curious what could it be about him so cool that so many people like.
Dynamo brought magic on the street among different regular people, different countries all over the world. And the most important thing is that he didn't intend to fool people, but to impress them. And I have to admit he really did.
For the last few weeks I've watched some of his series. There aren't much of them. About 12 in total. And while I was on vacation I downloaded his new book to my iPad and decided to read a little bit more about him. The book is called "Nothing Is Impossible: The Real-Life Adventures of a Street Magician" Which is ment to inspire people to begin with.
“When you’re a kid life can seem tough - tougher for some than others. But the darkest of times can also be the most enlightening.
When his late granddad showed him magic for the first time, Steven Frayne knew there was more to life than hiding from bullies. He had a destiny. A calling. In that moment Dynamo was born: the most exciting magician of the 21st century. Since then, Dynamo has shocked, thrilled and amazed men, women and children from all walks of life, all over the world. With his mind-blowing illusions, he has catalysed a whole new era of magic.
Now, in his very first book, Dynamo invites you to join him on a breathtaking journey across the globe. Be prepared to levitate Lindsay Lohan in Singapore, transform snow into diamonds in the Austrian mountains and walk on water across the River Thames. Along the way, he reveals how to make the impossible possible, what it takes to pull off the greatest stunts man has ever seen, and why everyone needs magic in their lives.
This is no illusion. This is the real story of the awe-inspiring Dynamo.”
I'm not saying that you should watch or read his books. Just sharing my own experience. Since I always don't have too much spare time myself, but this time I've decided to make an exception. Watching some of his series not only inspires you, he also makes you see a world around you in a little different perspective, meet different people from all over the world, starting in London, moving on to Las Vegas and ending up in Africa or Brazil. Plus it never hurts to have just a little bit of fun and amazement.
"How the hell did he do?" This will be the main question you will ask yourself.
Here is a video sample on only some of his tricks, although there are much much more to see. Don't try to understand how or where is the trick, try to believe that it's really magic and you'll be amazed as a kid.
In this one video he attempted one of the most ambitious tricks, to walk on water. And he performed it not in a pool with actors and camera angles but in the very center of London, where people could watch and observe him from many different angles which made the trick much more complicated. Even now people are not sure exactly how he did it.
I like the format of the videos. No stages, no other actors. Just random kids at the beach using everyday tools like a key and a pair of headphones. He keeps it simple but still amazes.
I would really suggest reading his book just to get your thoughts off our every day life. It really makes you see things a little bit differently. And in the end you do start to believe that nothing is impossible.
